Name: Thomas Gray

Alias / Known As: Clym’s Apprentice; The Reluctant Witness

Age: 18

Origin: Irvine, Ayrshire

Affiliations: Former altar boy at St. Bride’s Chapel; apprentice to Clym Hopkins

Summary:

Thomas Gray was never meant to walk with monsters. Chosen for his piety and obedience, he was handed to Clym Hopkins as an apprentice—told it was an honor, a calling. What he found instead was fear dressed as faith. Thomas witnesses cruelty cloaked in scripture, and though he does not yet have the courage to speak against it, his silence trembles. He prays more often now. Not for power. For a way out. Whether he becomes a martyr, a bystander, or a weapon will depend on what breaks first: his will, or his heart.

Notable Traits:

— Quiet, observant, and slow to speak—but everything sinks in

— Torn between admiration and revulsion toward Clym

— Begins to suspect the Church’s righteousness is not always God’s

— Haunted by what he has seen, and more haunted by what he may yet do

Status: Active apprentice; inwardly unraveling; caught between mercy and obedience
